Company’s History
Griot's Roll is a for profit business, film/video production and post-production company. It is located in Central Harlem, on 135TH Street in New York. Griot Roll's (means Story Teller in Swahili) goal is to provide services both in film/video production and post-production. Griot's Roll will edit and shoot film/video at affordable rates for independent film, record label, the small business entrepreneurs and individual consumers.
Griot's Roll is a maturing company specializing in production and post-production.Griot's Roll Film Production & Services Inc. is the idea of Derrick M. Guest, CEO and owner. . His determination to become an entrepreneur and work on his passion for filming, writing and directing is what drives him to become successful.
The company is three years old and was incorporated in February 2004. Griot's Roll has finished its first project in January 2004 (Urban Fishing Adventure). We have worked on musical show cases for various artists. Griot's future endeavors include starting our video resume services. Griot's Roll will add to our editing software “after affects”.
GRIOT’S ROLL FILM PRODUCTION & SERVICES INC.
Derrick M. Guest, President, CEO and Owner: has his Associates in the Performing Arts and his Bachelors in Film Production. Mr. Guest has experience as a playwright, having written the Off-Broadway Play, “Choices” for the Negro Ensemble Company. He has extensive experience in writing and directing short films such as “30 Minutes of Pleasure”, The “Grade” and “Loneliness”. He has directed television shows and has several scripts in the works for future production.
M. Young, Vice President of Operations, Owner: has extensive experience working in diverse office setting and office management skills. She brings to the table her experience in Human Resources Procedures. Ms. Young has her Bachelors in Business Administration.
Nicholas Chayszyn, Head Editor: has his Bachelor in Fine Arts. He has worked on such shows as Law & Order, Homicide: Life on the Street and MTV. He has extensive experience in editing (HTML and Flash presentation, video, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Peak, Media Cleaner, Photoshop and Dream Weaver).
Post-Production Equipment: Griot's Roll is in possession of one of the finest programs in Final Cut Pro. The software runs smoothly on a G4 1.25 ghz. On this G4, Griot's Roll is able to give its customers the best in quality for any project. Griot's Roll will make your specialized DVD on this great machine.
